On May 11th, 2019, two members of 2PM, Taecyeon and Junho, came to watch Nichkhun’s concert which was held at Ewha University, Seoul. They then took a photo with Nichkhun backstage, as seen in a post that was shared on 2PM’s official Instagram account.
In the photo, Taecyeon and Junho are seen carrying a hand banner and standing side by side with Nichkhun. The writing on the banner read, “The day that has been expected.”

What a supportive friend!
On the morning of May 16th, 2019, Ok Taecyeon held a demobilization ceremony at the Baekma Recruit Training Camp, Goyang County, Gyeonggi Province, after finishing his 20-month military service. Hundreds of fans from around the world had been on the scene that day to congratulate him on getting discharged.
Appearing in the cheering of fans with a bright smile, Ok Taecyeon voiced his feelings about getting discharged, “I really can’t believe this is true. Yesterday, I didn’t even sleep a wink. As I was nervous, when I am standing in front of many cameras after a long time, I don’t know what to do.”
2PM’s maknae, Chansung, also came to welcome Taecyeon on the day of his discharge.
Taecyeon took a moment to thank all the fans who showed up as he said, “I want to continue by thanking my fans for waiting for me. I didn’t know that many would come here today. I hope to come back soon with something positive.” When Taecyeon was asked what he really wanted to do, he responded, “I want to see the other 2PM members.” He added, “Two of them are currently in the army, and I really miss the other members. I hope our loving members can gather soon and show everyone something great.”
On June 11th, 2019, Chansung was enlisted in a center based in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, through the 5th Infantry Division. Chansung is the final member of 2PM to join after Taecyeon, Jun. K, Wooyoung, and Junho, as Nichkhun is not a Korean citizen.
To support him, the official Twitter account of 2PM shared photos of Taecyeon, Jun.K, and Nichkhun when sending Chansung in the military. In their caption, they gave encouragement to this 1990-born idol.
“The eternal maknae of 2PM, Chansung, must be cheerful until the end! Come back safely! Hottest (2PM fans), let’s wait without crying! (Feat. ‘All Old Boys’ have gathered to send the maknae!),” said the caption. “The oldest hyung (Jun.K) took time off from the army to see (Chansung) leave, the second oldest hyung (Nichkhun) woke up in the middle of the night thinking about the maknae (who would) go (military), and the third oldest hyung (Taecyeon) had returned from the military to see the face of the maknae, (even though) it has been less than a month since he left the military.”

Nichkhun also posted a photo on his Instagram and prayed for the What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim actor to return safely. “Maknae, return safely. I can’t give you military energy like other members, but instead, I will support you. Cheer up!” wrote the Thai idol.

On July 18th, 2019, Taecyeon visited Chansung in the military base. 2PM’s Instagram shared photos from his basic training from the day of Chansung’s completion ceremony. The caption explained how as soon as he saw Taecyeon’s face and they embraced, their youngest member broke out into a huge smile.

Being Called Captain Korea But He Feels Burdensome
Taecyeon is a Korean idol known for having a strong and muscular body shape. Moreover, his photos in a military uniform have gone viral. Because of this physique, Taecyeon has often been dubbed Captain Korea. The 30-year-old man said the nickname made him feel burdened.
“In my opinion, my body is muscular because I trained very hard in the military. This is a pressure, but it also makes me think that I have to work harder to be able to match the nickname,” he said.

The ‘war’ between Taecyeon from 2PM and a sasaeng (obsessive fan) who is stalking him continues. After briefly exposing the stalker’s ugliness via Twitter, 2PM’s Taecyeon has now created a personal Instagram account to ‘fight’ the sasaeng.
Taecyeon opened his Instagram account called @taecyeonokay on July 9th, 2019, which seems to be a play on his full name Ok Taecyeon. To prove that the account is authentic, he linked the Instagram post to his Twitter account. Not only that, but this man also made a post containing photos of himself, as well as a caption that read, “Welcome to my Instagram!”

2PM’s Taecyeon and actress Lee Yeon-hee were paired in The Game: Towards Zero that started airing on MBC on January 22nd, 2020, and will be on the air until March 12th, 2020. This mystery thriller tells about Kim Tae-pyung (Taecyeon), a man who has psychic abilities, who is able to see the moment just before someone dies.
