Korean rookie rock band 2Z debuted in January 2020 but already made a buzz in the Korean music industry. A combination of visual and music talent, 2Z set a new light in Korean wave that is different from the normal. It was too long since the last time a pop-rock band made a debut in Korea. 2Z get their inspiration from popular rock bands like Radiohead.

2Z is a Korean pop band under the management of GOGO2020 that was debuted on January 14, 2020.. 2Z means that the new music band will fight to Z, to reach the top position in music. 2Z consisted of 5 handsome and talented young musicians, all in their early twenties. They are Bumjun, Hyunwoong, Jiseob, Hyojin and Junhyung.
Other than their music talent, all members are popular for their visual and body height. Each member has a body height of more than 180 cm. Junghyun, the youngest of all, has 192 cm body height while Hyunwoong has 182 cm body height. Most of the 2Z members also work as an active model.

Official Debut
Before the official debut, each member was announced to media. The first member, Bumjun was announced on November 18th, 2019 while the last member, Hojin, was announced on November 22th, 2020. On November 25th, GOGO2020 released behind the story videos of 2Z to media.
2Z officially debuted after releasing their first mini album, We Tuzi, on January 14, 2020. The title single for their first album was My 1st Hero.
1st Mini Album
2Z made a debut performance on KBS2 Music Bank on January 3rd, 2020. On that day, the group announced the date of the official release of the debut album WE TUZI. 2Z members said that the band got inspirations from popular rock bands like Radiohead. Each member is fans of the same bands, and they decided to form a music band and to practice the song. The popular bands are like heroes to all members. In My 1st Hero, 2Z delivered the sincerity and fighting spirit to overcome the difficulties and terrifying world and live in a wonderful day.

One of the 2Z members, Hyunwoong, gained huge criticism for releasing audio of George Floyd during his dying moments at the hands of a racist police officer. Fans and the public immediately attacked his decision to include the audio in his song. It seemed like the new group took advantage of the recent black lives matter movement to capture the attention of the public.
The public expressed their disgust to 2Z on their official social platform. Even though the lyric of the song that Hyunwoon uploaded said about his strong support against the Black Lives Matter movement, his decision in including the audio made the public felt disgusted. They were in total disbelief about Hyunwoong’s action.
Previously, 2Z received popularity due to their support against racism by releasing pictures of them in a kneeling position. They also speak about their support to move against racism on their social media account.
Hyunwoong was very inconsiderate in using the actual audio. Due to his action, new fans retracted their support and unfollowed 2Z on their social media account. Hyunwoong immediately acknowledged his mistake and subsequently deleted the song. He made an official apology to the public on his Instagram account.
He said that “I respect and love black people community. I was short-thinking. I am deeply sorry.” Later, 2Z management uploaded an official statement and said, “Each member was in deep regret about the content that Hyunwoong published on his social media account. The label company wasn’t notified about the content that he shared. We apologize to people who were offended by Hyunwoong’s music.
Due to the criticism, Hyunwoong decided to terminate his activity with 2z on June 17, 2020.
