Lee Jin-woo started his idol trainee days in Maroo Entertainment at the tender age of fifteen years old. At the time, he enrolled in Hallyim Entertainment Arts High School. After only five months of training, he decided to participate in the Mnet idol survival show Produce 101. His cute looks and playful persona got the attention of viewers. His best rank was 4th. Mysteriously, he dropped from a safe position to number 22 and ended his participation in the program.
He continued to train under Maroo Entertainment and debuted with two other Maroo Entertainment trainees and former Produce 101 eliminated contestants, Lee Tae-seung and Lee Woo-jin. Their group is called Teen Teen.
