And today, in this article, we are going to talk about Jackson Wang. Don’t know about him yet? Here is some basic info about him. Jackson Wang is a Hong Kong rapper, singer, and dancer based in South Korea. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Got7 under JYP Entertainment. Now, we are not going to talk specifically about his profile and facts, but about his collaboration works with artists from 88rising. What is 88rising? It is an American mass media company that founder Sean Miyashiro describes as a “hybrid management, record label, video production, and marketing company.” The company has gained popularity as a musical platform and label primarily for Asian-American and Asian artists who release music in the United States, such as NIKI, Keith Ape, Rich Brian, Stephanie Poetri, and Joji.

And now, without any further ado, let’s move on to the main topic, guys!

Stephanie Poetri & Jackson Wang – I Love You 3000

Jackson Wang collaborated with Indonesian singer Stephanie Poetri for a song titled “I Love You 3000.” Poetri burst into the international music scene with her first rendition of “I Love You 3000,” which was in reference to the massive blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame, became a viral hit.

According to E!Online, joining her in the new version of the hit song is member of the popular K-Pop boy band GOT7 – Jackson Wang. The rapper shows off his softer, more romantic side by singing his verses with his signature husky voice. The two star in the music video of “I Love You 3000 II” which has a colorful, retro theme. The music video takes inspiration from old-school infomercials.

“I Love You 3000 II” is released as one of the tracks offered in 88rising’s latest album, Head In The Clouds II.

Joji & Jackson Wang feat. Swae Lee & Major Lazer – Walking

GOT7’s Jackson Wang has been taking the US by storm with his incredible collaboration with Asian hip-hop collective, 88rising. And then, more, dropped the official music video of the track “Walking.”

According to E!Online (eonline.com), sung by Japanese-American singer Joji and Wang himself, the catchy pop tune features American rapper Swae Lee (the man behind the hit single “Sunflower” from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse) and renowned DJ, Major Lazer.

The track is part of 88rising’s latest collective album release, Head In The Clouds II this year. “Walking” is a pop tune with an infectious reggaeton beat, coupled with Joji’s signature melodious crooning and Wang’s husky singing voice.

The music video is a hilarious tale about a giant lobster (played by Joji) terrorizing a city: think Godzilla meets King Kong. Wang plays a hero who operates a giant robot to attack the monstrous lobster and save the city. In doing so, Wang realizes that the lobster was just misunderstood and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The two form a strange friendship as outcasts of society.

From Joji dressed as a giant lobster to Wang’s superhero antics, the video is a wonderful departure from the highly produced, slick MVs we are used to seeing Wang star in. Not to mention, the bloopers that were included at the end showing Joji and Wang goofing around on set which were equally humorous.

Jackson Wang & Higher Brothers ft. AUGUST 08 & Goldlink – Tequila Sunrise

Another song from Jackson Wang and 88rising’s artists is a song titled “Tequila Sunrise.”

The song talks about the man that didn’t really want to have an argument with his lover and told them that he understands them a lot.

Faded being Cancelled

According to SOOMPI, Jackson Wang has shared that his track “Faded” will not be released, while also revealing news about his song titled “OXYGEN.”

On March 19th, 2019, at midnight KST, Jackson posted to let fans know that “Faded” will not be released. The song was previously scheduled to be released on March 19th, but teasers were removed after they were uploaded.

He included the text “Let’s move on,” and also #moveon and #blessed in the hashtags.

And then, “OXYGEN” was released in April 2019. Oxygen’s theme is more focused on someone’s inner emotions dealing with their very strong feelings for someone and missing them like crazy.

Canceled Performance At The Head in the Clouds 2019

According to some portal news, Jackson Wang has been pulled out from 88rising Festival Head in the Clouds 2019 after he expressed his feelings about the support for Beijing.

As demonstrations in Hong Kong intensify, the entertainment world is increasingly feeling the heat. And Jackson Wang has faced intense criticism from those in Hong Kong because he publicly supported Beijing.

The abrupt announcement was made on the Instagram page of 88Rising, the Asian-centric hip-hop collective that is the event’s main organizer.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, Jackson Wang will no longer be playing in the Head in the Clouds Festival,” 88Rising wrote in the caption of a blank picture on Instagram. “Thank you for supporting Jackson at this time.”

That was all about Jackson Wang and his collaborations with 88rising. Don’t forget to keep supporting him and the other K-Pop idols. We will see you guys in the next article. Bye-bye!
