To prevent spreading of the virus, the government made rules to conduct social distancing and avoid the crowds. But apparently, there are still many people who don’t comply with these regulations. It turned out that some of the people who break the rules came from K-Pop Idols circles, they are BTS’ Jungkook with his fellow 97-liners who were caught hangout in one of the red zone areas.

Headline News About BTS Jungkook Who Visited Itaewon During The Pandemic
On May 18, 2020 one of South Korea’s media name Dispatch reported that 4 famous K-Pop idols who get caught ignore the rule form social distancing, and they are BTS’ Jungkook, NCT’s Jaehyun, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo. They were went to several places in Itaewon, such as bars and restaurants which is located in Itaewon.
South Korea got an additional COVID-19 new case in May 2020. Regard to Itaewon, several patients with a new case in May before they were reportedly positively infected the virus, they had go to several places such as bar, the place is located in Itaewon. The patients reportedly went to Itaewon around May 2, and they called as positive on May 6, 2020.
Then there’s a suggestion to anyone who visits to Itaewon on April 24 to May 6, they must conduct an independent quarantine at their home. Regarding this information, Dispatch revealed that Jungkook and his three idol friends are spent time together on April 25, 2020.
Big Hit Official Statement
Previously, Dispatch had revealed that there were 4 idols who were break the rules to social distancing, but it hastn’t been revealed the idols identity. Then after Dispatch leaked the identity and each agency released an official statement, include the agency that overshadowed BTS’ Jungkook, Big Hit Entertainment.
In Big Hit official statement as reported by Koreaboo, they said:
“Hello, this is Big Hit Entertainment.
This is our official position regarding BTS Jungkook’s visit to Itaewon, Seoul.
First of all, we would like to sincerely apologize for our late acknowledgment that there were a number of inquiries from the media about Jungkook’s visit to Itaewon, and that there was a problem with our initial response.
It is true Jungkook visited Itaewon. However, at the time of his visit, he did not go to the same venue that had the confirmed case in early May. He went about a week before that case occurred. In addition, we decided that it would not be appropriate to disclose the artists’s personal daily life activities to the public because we voluntarily took measures such as taking the Coronavirus test, according to government guidelines.
However, there is no excuse to this decision, as it showed that we clearly did not recognize the seriousness of social distancing during this time, as the artists’s managing agency. Instead we put more priority into the protection of the artist. We would like to bow our heads in apology to everyone for this.
Jungkook visited Itaewon restaurants and bars on Saturday, April 25. Since his visit, he has not had any Coronavirus symptoms such as coughing or fever, and he voluntarily got tested at a screening clinic, and tested negative. Currently, Jungkook is deeply reflecting on the fact that he has not faithfully participated in the efforts of keeping social distance.

Petition To Revoke The Award Orde If Cultural Merit
Before Big Hit’s official statement was released, a petition emerge to revoke the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit Award which was received by Jungkook and BTS in 2018 ago. Allegedly the one who made the petition was Jungkook’s haters, they asked Blue House to withdraw the award that he got from “2018 Korean Populat Culture and Arts Awards”. The petition titled “Please revoke BTS Jungkook’s Order of Cultural Merit medal”.
They made this petition because they thought that Jungkook was not the right person or didn’t deserve the award, because he had ignored the government’s recommendations during this pandemic. But this petition failed because it didn’t get much support, only being able to get 1.400 signatures.
Big Hit Got Criticized For Taking Care Of Jungkook Case
Before Big Hit gave an official statement and an apology on behalf of Jungkook, Big Hit always rejected rumors that involved Jungkook about Itaewon controversy by reason that it concern to the artist’s privacy (Jungkook’s privacy). Then, when Dispatch gave the idols identity in May 18, 2020, Big Hit still refused about it with same reason.
But according to netizens, the way Big Hit handled Jungkook’s case actually made the controversy went longer. Netizens alson didn’t like Big Hit’s way to protect their artist, and they also suggest that Big Hit should immediately confirm and give an official statement about the controversy, and if Jungkook is guilty, he can just apologize without ignoring his case.
BTS Jungkook Caused Many Problems After He Got Some Tattoos
Before this case, Jungkook had been involved in several scandals. Korean netizens assume that, after the BTS’ youngest member has a tattoo he’s always involved in several rumor or scandals, and they think that Jungkook is the only BTS meber who always involved with controversy.
On previously, Jungkook had been involved in a traffic violation case, and had been rumored in a dating scandal with Tattoos artists. This gets a lot of comments from netizens and Jungkook often gets a lot of blasphemy because of the scandals.
Lemona Japan Deleted BTS Content After Jungkook Controversy
After circulated of BTS’ Jungkook’s news who got caught went to Ittaewon with fellow 97-liners during this pandemic, BTS’ fans found that Lemona’s Japan has deleted all content about BTS with that brand without apparent reasons. Previously, Lemona’s Japan twitter accound shared about their content with BTS, but suddenly all the posts were deleted.
ARMY felt confused because the brand still had a contract with BTS but suddenly they deleted it. Until now, the brand hasn’t clarified anything. But on the other hand, Lemona’s Korean brand doesn’t delete anything about BTS on their official sites. Some people think that maybe Lemona’s Japan brand delete it because they too fast do promoting, and this isn’t related to Jungkook’s controversy in Itaewon
