Meet The Cute Boy Group 1THE9 from MBC Under 19

One more group is coming from a survival variety show! After groups like Winner (from Mnet’s Who Is Next), as well as Wanna One and X1 (from Mnet’s Produce 101), boy group 1the9 (Hangul: 원더나인, stylized as 1THE9, pronounced as Wonder Nine) was born from the 2018 MBC survival competition show Under 19. All the 9 members who were able to debut with the group are Yoo Yong-ha, Kim Tae-woo, Lee Seung-hwan, Shin Ye-chan, Kim Jun-seo, Jeon Do-yum, Jung Jin-sung, Jeong Taek-hyeon, and Park Sung-won. After competing in 2018, the group finally debuted on April 13th, 2019, with the EP XIX.

From November 3rd, 2018, until February 9th, 2019, MBC was airing a survival competition series titled Under 19 in which out of the initial 57 trainees from different companies, there would be 9 final members chosen by the audience voting at the end of the show who would be granted a 12-month contract. The announcement of the group’s members was released on February 9th, 2019, and it consists of 9 members: Do-yum, Jin-sung, Tae-woo, Ye-chan, Taek-hyeon, Yong-ha, Sung-won, Seung-hwan, and Jun-seo. They will be promoting under MBK Entertainment managed by PocketDol Studio.

They finally made their debut on April 13th, 2019, with the track “Spotlight.”

Debut Era

The debut date of 1the9 was first announced on February 26th, 2019. The representative of the company revealed that they were set to debut on April 12th, 2019 (later changed to the 13th). The concept photos of the members were released on the same day as the announcement.

It was revealed on April 5th, 2019, that the name of the album was gonna be XIX, and “Spotlight” would be the title track. “Domino,” their pre-debut track from Under 19’s vocal trainer Crush, was released first on April 7th, 2019.

On April 13th, 2019, they finally made their official debut with “Spotlight” and performed it on various music shows during the next week. They held their debut showcase in V Live on April 17th, 2019, where they performed three songs and played various fun games. Later, they announced that their fandom name was gonna be Wonderland with the lime punch as their fandom color.

Get ready because 1the9 is gonna be having a comeback!

On June 27th, 2020, through their social media account, 1the9 announced that they will be making a comeback with the mini-album Turn Over scheduled to be released on July 16th, 2020. The main track from this album is planned to be released at the same time as the album.

The poster for the comeback was unveiled on July 6th, 2020, giving fans a glimpse into their next concept.

On July 5th, 2020, the first group photo of the comeback was released. We can see from the teaser that there are some lyrics and words that are projected on the backs of the members.

On June 27th, 2020, through their Twitter account, the group shared behind-the-scenes footage of their music video filming to satisfy the fans’ curiosity.
