NMIXX The Girl Group of the New Era

It’s “Nice To Mixx You,” the announcement that JYP Entertainment made through NMIXX’s official Twitter account. The announcement included a video that revealed NMIXX’s logo. The announcement about NMIXX’s long-awaited debut was made on January 26^th, 2022. Before JYP Entertainment announced NMIXX’s debut, they teased their new girl group since August 2021. They released various clips that show the members’ skills in rapping, dancing, and singing.

The name NMIXX itself is an abbreviation from the letter N that means now, new, and close to the unknown n while MIX symbolizes combination and diversity which means the best combination for a new era. NMIXX also uses the tagline “Your next favorite girl group.” Fun fact, NMIXX’s fandom name is called NSWER.

Haewon’s birthplace is Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea.
She reportedly attended Incheon Nonhyeon High School.
She was training for over four years.
Haewon was introduced to the public as an NMIXX member on November 5^th, 2021, through a cover of Stephanie Poetri’s “I Love You 3000.”
Haewon can speak English and Spanish well.
While her official position is vocalist, Haewon is also able to rap well.

Lily was born in Marysville, Victoria, Australia.
She has Korean and Australian heritage. Her mom is Korean while her father is Australian.

Lily was a contestant on K-pop Star Season Four and won fourth place.
She was scouted by JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment but chose JYP Entertainment instead.

Sullyoon was a former Woolim trainee and was supposed to debut with Rocket Punch.
After leaving Woolim, Sullyoon auditioned for SM, YG, FNC, TS, and JYP. She passed all of the auditions, and she then chose to train at JYP.
Sullyoon can speak a bit of English and took Spanish for her language class in high school.

NMIXX Kyujin Facts

Kyujin was born in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
She joined JYP Entertainment in 2018 when she was in 5^th grade.
Kyujin is one of the first three members to be introduced as an NMIXX member on August 6^th, 2021.
Kyujin is able to speak English.
She attended Hanlim Multi Arts School.

NMIXX Has Shown Its Talent Since Pre-Debut

Since before the debut, NMIXX has shown that it is worthy of the title Your Next Favorite Girl Group. It was July 9^th, 2021, when a rumor about the debut of a new JYP girl group started. The day before, JYP Entertainment through the account JYPn released a teaser titled Blind Package. Then, the next day, JYP Entertainment confirmed that it would debut a girl group in February 2022.

The announcement of JYP’s new girl group was then made from August to October 2021. The announcement was made through the release of qualifying videos. The videos introduced the members through performances. The first ones to be introduced to the public on August 6^th, 2021, were Kyujin, Jiwoo, and Jinni who made a dance performance.

Then, on September 3^rd, 2021, Sullyoon was introduced to the public through her cover of Sunmi’s “Full Moon.” On October 8^th, 2021, it was Bae’s turn to be introduced to the public with her cover of Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart.” Then, on November 5^th, 2021, with a cover of Stephanie Poetri’s “I Love You 3000,” Haewon was introduced to the public. The last member to be introduced was Lily on November 19^th, 2021, with a cover of Bruno Mars’s “Finesse.”

NMIXX Debut With AD MARE

After the confirmation of the seven-member group of JYPn, JYP Entertainment then announced that the group was going to debut in February 2022. Following that announcement, on January 26^th, 2022, JYP Entertainment revealed the group name NMIXX when they released a video titled “Nice To Mixx You.” The debut trailer titled “New Frontier: Declaration” was released on January 27^th, 2022, with Lily as the narrator. On the same day, the profile picture of NMIXX was also released to the public.

The date of the debut was then confirmed on February 3^rd, 2022, through a poster that revealed that NMIXX was going to debut on February 22th, 2022, with the single album AD MARE. The single album AD MARE was released at 6 p.m. KST through a streaming music site, and the title song for their debut is “O.O.” The uniquely titled song has an exclusive meaning as it shows the facial expression made when we open our eyes wide when we are surprised. It’s like saying “Oh!” Surely, NMIXX’s debut will bring surprise to the viewer as they say, “Oh!”
