Influenced by his sister, began wanting to become a celebrity in musicals. Jo Seung-woo grew up in a musical family: his dad Jo Kyung-soo is a singer, and his older sister Jo Seo-yeon behaves in musical theatre. For his disregard for education, Seung-Woo was notorious during his high school years. Musical CDs were often carried by him. Then he continued his research at Dankook University majoring in Theater and Film.
His passion for musicals quickly took a back seat to act in films after Jo Seung-Woo auditioned for Im Kwon-Taek in”Chunhyang” and obtained the starring character from one of an area of 1,000 celebrities. “Chunhyang” would screen since the first Korean film in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, though domestically it failed to draw much of an audience. He also engaged on the little and big screen.

It aired tvN every Saturday and Sunday at 21:00 (KST) in June 10, 2017 to July 30, 2017.
It aired concurrently on Netflix, which bought the show for $200,000 each incident. The series was a hit with both national and international viewers and gained positive reviews for its tight plot sequences, and performances. It was featured on New York Times list of Greatest TV Shows of 2017, also won many awards including the Grand Prize for television in the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards.
