Hyeyeon was a former member of the South Korean girl-group Gugudan, which was formed under Jellyfish Entertainment. She’s spent almost 3 years as an active member of Gugudan, since the group debuted on June 28, 2016. Jellyfish Entertainment confirmed that she left the group on October 25, 2018, due to her studies and health issues.

Jellyfish Entertainment shared a statement, “Hyeyeon will be ending her activity with Gugudan. The decision was made after frequent discussion about the future career path and activities in the entertainment for Hyeyeon, who has been dedicated her studies since May, while taking break for health reason. Although she was withdrawal with Gugudan, she still continues to be a part of Jellyfish Entertainment.”
