Formed in 2013 after being the top scorers in a survival program, the current WINNER is known as a popular group from YG entertainment that’s well-liked among the general public. WINNER’s Latest Comeback with “MILLIONS”q
In 2018, Winner released their second Japanese single “Our Twenty Four” which contained two new original Japanese songs, released another (second) studio album, “EVERYD4Y”, with 12 tracks, and also released a single album titled “Millions”. They hit daebak with all their title tracks, and even won the top spots in 18 countries on the iTunes charts.
The rest of 2018 was also packed, with their Asia concert tour in different countries, busy days for some members with solo activities, and performing in 17 university festivals. Even so, they still managed to make a spectacular comeback before the end of the year with “Millions” in December. The song was written by Seungyoon, Mino and Seunghoon, while the song was composed by Seungyoon, Kang Ukjin, and Diggy. “Millions” topped the music charts of 7 major Korean music platforms and the iTunes Song Charts in 19 different regions.
On December 18th, at 10 AM, YG Entertainment posted WINNER’s poster through their official blog, with the release of their new single “MILLIONS” only a day ahead. The song is about youth, good feelings, and heart-warming emotions. The members of WINNER also presented fresh choreography, performed in a small room as if they were performing a musical, grabbing the viewers’ attention in an instant. WINNER’s Next Comeback
WINNER has swept music charts last year with “MILLIONS”, “EVERYDAY”, and “FIANCÉ” from MINO’s solo album, while receiving love from many fans. The people are paying keen attention to what kind of new songs WINNER will present with their upcoming comeback. On February 11th, 2019, Yang Hyun Suk told fans that the release of WINNER’s comeback album has been delayed by the members’ request. “Due to their busy end-of-year schedule and their tour, the time they were able to spend in the recording studio was limited, and they have expressed wanting to add one or two more songs. Because of this, we have cancelled the music video shooting that was scheduled for February, and they are currently hard at work in the studio“. He then added that fans would be notified of the new release date as soon as it is decided.
Later, on February 25th, it was revealed that WINNER finally finished recording their new album. YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun-Suk announced the news by sharing a screen capture of his private KakaoTalk chatroom with the WINNER members, where he congratulated the boys for successfully completing the recording process. Now, it looks like we are getting close to their comeback.
WINNER Members Solo Activities in 2019
On SBS Power FM “Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time”, where WINNER appeared as the first guests of 2019, the group revealed that they will be busy with preparations for their solo concert in Seoul, as well as their upcoming tour. Regarding the members’ potential solo promotions, WINNER revealed, “We are always preparing. Producer Yang Hyun-Suk seems to think that it would be good for the other members to have solo activities, since Song Min Ho’s solo promotions had great response. We cannot provide any specifics about Kim Jin Woo’s solo debut. But we expect it will be some time in the latter half of 2019. Please continue to wait and anticipate it.”
On February 11th, 2019, YG’s Yang Hyun-Suk explained that members Kang Seung-Yoon and Song Min-Ho will be releasing solo albums sometime this year. While Kim Jin-Woo and Lee Seung-Hoon’s solo songs will be included in the next album.
While the group has been quietly preparing their third full album, each of the WINNER members also actively made appearances on broadcast shows since 2019 began. As the fans may know, Jinwoo is now a regular cast member of SBS’ “Legendary Big Fish”, Mino regularly appears on tvN’s “New Journey to the West” and “Kang’s Kitchen” as a fixed cast, and Seungyoon and Seunghoon has guested on “Problematic Men” back in January 1st.
