Shin Dong-yoon (real name) was born on April 19th, 1968, in Seosan, South Korea. He is 182 cm tall and has a weight of around 70 kg. He debuted as a rock singer in 1992 under Manpa Entertainment with the release of his first album Towards Tomorrow. He was known for his rock ballad songs in the 1990s. He then started his acting career in 2000 with the SBS series Love Story where he appeared as Jung-woo, the main role in episode 6. He has been an active singer and actor ever since until today.
He has also starred in several musical theaters, like Dracula (1998), Jack The Ripper (2011-2014), The Three Musketeers (2011-2014), and Gone with the Wind (2014-2015). He used to be a regular member of SBS’ variety show Roommate along with 10 other celebrities, including EXO’s Chanyeol, and had the nickname “Mama Shin.” Through the program, according to Orange Caramel’s Nana, Shin Sung-woo was known as a charismatic yet gentle-hearted person and was a very good cook.
Shin Sung-woo’s Marriage
On October 28th, 2016, according to Korea JoongAng Daily, it was reported that Shin Sung-woo would get married to his girlfriend after dating for four years. The wedding would be held at an unnamed wedding venue in Gangnam, Seoul. Both parties were said to have met each other’s families and have done the customary meeting. He also told Sport Chosun that he decided to marry his girlfriend because she is understanding and considerate. His wife-to-be, surnamed Park, is a woman who is 16 years younger than him and not from the entertainment industry.
He said that age doesn’t matter for him and that he only wanted someone with the same values as him. After the reveal of the wedding, the actor expressed his disappointment through his Twitter saying that he wanted to personally tell the news about his wedding but the media did it first instead. He also promised to share more information when the date was set. “Regardless, thank you for your blessings,” he ended.
On December 3rd, 2016, it was reported that Shin Sung-woo would get married on December 12th. His agency made an official announcement on December 2nd and revealed that the artist would be holding the wedding ceremony at Vista Hall of Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel. He said that the wedding ceremony would be held in private and their families would like to keep their identities from the public. “To all who have showered me with love and care, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. After the wedding, I will work hard and strive towards a happy family,” he added.
On December 12th, the couple finally got married. According to Allkpop, during the press conference prior to the wedding, when Shin Sung-woo was asked about how many kids he wanted to have, he answered, “Others who are married and have kids look very happy… I am very envious of them… But I will let my wife-to-be decide how many kids we will have.“

On January 2nd, 2018, Shin Sung Woo posted a picture of baby feet on his Instagram. They were actually his new-born son’s feet! He added a caption along with the announcement of his new-born son.

He said that he had a new resolution which is to make his son happy. He hoped that his son would always be healthy and he wanted to encourage him when he was having a hard time. He also wrote, “My son has been born into this world! From now on I’m living in this world as a father. Thank you for coming to my side, I’m so happy, and I love you!” Lastly, he expressed his love for his wife and also wished everyone a happy new year.
Later, on April 7th, 2019, the artist posted another picture of his son who was two years old at the time (Korean age).

He said that he was busy on tour with his fellow cast members of the musical theatre Jack The Ripper so he could not spend a lot of time with his son. Now that the musical has ended, he decided to take a trip with his family. He added that the next work practice would begin next Wednesday.
