Infinite Challenge is the pioneer of Korean variety shows and is rightfully called the nation’s variety show due to its popularity. It was aired from April 2005 until March 2018. After 13 years of broadcast, Infinite Challenge was terminated because the lead producer stepped down from the show and all cast members followed.
Park Myung-soo was given 250 nicknames by members and netizens during his appearance in Infinite Challenge. Noh Hong-chul called him “worthless elder brother” for his “useless body.” He was called “father” for his age, weak stamina and bald forehead. He acquired another nickname, “the son of the devil,” for his anger and scold towards other members for simple matters. Park Myung-soo himself wanted to be called “giant star.”
Park Myung-soo was the second person in charge after chief host Yoo Jae-suk in Infinite Challenge. Being the oldest member and the second person after Yoo Jae-suk in every episode, Park Myung-soo requested to challenge Yoo Jae-suk for leading host role. All members, staff, MBC employees voted for the person in charge as lead host. Park Myung-soo received majority votes and was selected as new leading host. However, during the three weeks of probation as a leading host, he couldn’t show his leadership skills and resigned from the role. Yoo Jae-suk was appointed as interim leading host and when the second election was held, he won and reinstated as leading host.
Park Myung-soo and Jeong Jung-ha frequently quarreled and argued over simple things. He disliked Jeong Jung-ha’s simple-minded character and often scolded him when he would lose his patience. The on-screen arguing was shown and broadcast many times and was called Ha and Soo segment. The on-screen quarrels and bickering were the viewers’ favorite scenes from Infinite Challenge. The Ha and Soo couple even won an award as the Best Couple at the 2011 MBC Entertainment Awards, the first male and male couple to win the award.

Happy Together is a popular Korean variety show which is aired on KBS from November 8th, 2001. Park Myung-soo joined the show Happy Together in Season 3, on July 5th, 2007. He joined the program as the main host alongside long-time friend and initial host, Yoo Jae-suk.
In an episode of Happy Together Season 3, aired in September 2018, NCT’s Lucas was invited as a guest. Lucas’ appearance on Happy Together was highly anticipated by viewers. The anticipation by viewers and his recent popularity made Lucas very confident. He was being confident in his good looks and even said that he was the best looking idol in SM Entertainment at the moment. Upon hearing Lucas’ over the top confidence, Park Myung-soo, best known for his hot-tempered character, was furious so he stood and scolded Lucas. The scene was so funny, it made all cast members and guests laugh without control.
In September 2018, Park Myung-soo said thank you and goodbye to the staff members and viewers of the variety show Happy Together at the end of its season 3. He left the show and his younger best friend, Yoo Jae-suk after joining Happy Together Season 3 in 2007 and spending 11 years on the show. On his Instagram account, he posted a picture of him, Yoo Jae-suk and other cast and staff members from his farewell party.

Park Myung-soo and Yoo Jae-suk had worked together since Infinite Challenge. Being the second person in charge, Park Myung-soo always envied Yoo Jae-suk’s role as the first person. Park Myung-soo wanted to overthrow him but he couldn’t show his leadership skills. In Infinite Challenge and Happy Together, Park Myung-soo always complemented the main MC, Yoo Jae-suk.
In an episode of Infinite Challenge, aired in January 2012, Park Myung-soo showed his over the top flattery to his superior in the episode, Yoo Jae-suk. He showed his flattery by imitating a scene from the movie Love Actually. He flipped his notebook page by page and showed God Yoo and a big heart.
In an episode of Happy Together, Park Myung-soo showed his admiration to Yoo Jae-suk. He even gave Yoo Jae-suk, his teacher, a carnation flower during a teacher’s day event.
On a rare interview with JungAng Ilbo, Yoo-Jae-suk shared his early career stories. He had a difficult period before earning his fame. He said that Park Myung-soo helped him a lot during the difficult period and he couldn’t have reached his top career without Park Myung-soo.
On April 9th, 2019, Park Myung-soo was invited as a guest on KBS’ Cool FM’s Yoon Jung-soo and Nam Chang-hee’s Mr. Radio. Park Myung-soo was asked about his relationship with Yoo Jae-suk and whether he missed working with him after not working together for over a year. Park Myung-soo and Yoo Jae-suk worked together in Infinite Challenge from 2005 to 2018 and Happy Together from 2007 to 2018. He said that he didn’t miss working with Yoo Jae-suk even though they created a lot of laughter when working together. However, Park Myung-soo was thankful for Yoo Jae-suk’s talent for bringing out his potential.
