Running Man marked its 433rd episode at the beginning of 2019. Starting from July 2010, Running Man became one of the elite variety shows that has spanned almost a decade. Episode 443
Episode 443, The Unboxing Race, was broadcast on March 17, 2019. On the episode, there were no additional guest and the mission was done around Seoul. The Running Man cast members were divided into three different teams. Green Team consisted of Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Kwang-soo, Yellow Team consisted of Ji Suk-jin, Song Ji-hyo, and Yang Se-chan, and Red Team consisted of Kim Jong-kook, Haha, and Jeon So-min. The entire team’s tasks were to search for clues inside cardboard boxes to complete the mission.
This episode was funny, personal, and interesting because every member brought their most precious item and revealed them to the viewers. Rising-star idol group SF9, actor Lee Sang-yeob, comedian Moon Se-yoon, Choi Song-min, Oh Chang-seok, Jo jeong-sik, Jeong Se-yoon, and Park Ki-Yeong participated as special guests on the episode.
Ji Suk-jin brought his most precious and cherished jacket and pants. He said that the price of the jacket was very expensive, and he bought it to look good in front of colleagues. However, he didn’t feel enough confidence to wear the jacket and kept it in his closet for a long time. Ji Suk-jin showed them to the SF9 members and asked them to buy the jacket and pants.
Ji Suk-jin asked Chanhee to wear the pants, saying they were made by a famous brand. Surprisingly, the pants looked very good on him and matched his stage outfit. Rowon tried on the jacket and looked astonishingly handsome and stylish on it. A very different image compared to Ji Suk-jin’s look when he wore the jacket. The pants and jacket suited very well as their stage costume.
On the other hand, Song Ji-hyo brought a flamethrower that she received as a present from her manager. She said that her manager ordered the flamethrower from a foreign country for her to solve a bug problem in her house. The flame thrower looked pretty scary, and the entire Running Man cast was was terrified because of it.
Spoiler alert! At the end of the episode, Lee Kwang-soo and Yoo Jae-suk won and received two boxes as a reward. As expected, Yoo Jae-sik got a jumping rope, while the self-claimed-but-luckless Asia Prince, Lee Kwang-soo, got a huge empty box.
Episode 452
Running Man members visited Heyri Art Valley in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province to record episode 452. Episode 452 was a special episode to celebrate the show’s 9th year of being on the air. The episode was called Fan-meet Race, and spanned four weeks.
The entire cast, as a team, had to create choreography and a Running Man theme song. When the group performed the choreography, one pair of them would be selected and that pair would be able to perform with a selected artist on the stage. On the episode, cast members competed with production staff, and whoever completed three challenges in five hours would win the mission. In order to win the challenge, they must avoid earning penalties and accumulating fail stickers. If they fail the mission, all the members must select and perform one of four difficult pieces of choreography in front of the fans during the fan-meeting event.
Al the members were shocked upon finding out that they have to perform either an urban dance, acrobatic dance, or pantomimic dance if they lost. Spoiler alert! On the episode, due to their collaboration, the cast members won and they could choose their own choreography for future episodes.
Episode 477
Running Man episode 477 was among the funniest episodes in 2019. GOT7’s Jinyoung’s appearance and Jeon Seo-min’s armpit scandal were among the funniest scenes in the episode. Episode 477 was broadcast on November 17, 2019.
The episode was called TV Station Ghost Story : Legendary Plan. Rising star idol GOT7’s Jinyoung, idol goddess Hyuna, actress Kang Hanna, comedienne Lee Huk-joo, and idol Sihyeon appeared on the episode. The entire Running Man cast and the guests were divided into Pig Team, Rabbit Team, Fox Team, Snake Team, Tiger Team, and Bear Team. The mission was to identify members of banned animals team and capture each member.
Got7 stole the heart of Jeon So Min as he joined the Running Man members. In previous episodes, GOT7’s Jinyoung appeared as a guest, and Jeon So-min was visibly attracted to his handsome face and manly aura. This time, Jeon So-min’s heart was fluttering when she saw Jinyoung. She became a shy fangirl, and couldn’t look him in the eyes. Jinyoung introduced GOT7’s latest single, You Calling My Name, and danced in front of the entire cast. His dancing style is calm and charming, yet manly and charismatic. Haha said that it was no wonder that Jeon So-min fell for him.
There was also another funny scene in this episode. Jeon So-min had been learning and practicing Korean traditional dance for three months, and she was very eager to show it to GOT7’s Jinyoung. She removed her jacket, even though other members said that it wasn’t necessary. She said that since hand and arm movement are very important, she needed to take off her jacket and show the movement to the viewers. However, as soon as she lifted her arms, the entire cast could see her sweaty armpit. Yoo Jae-suk acted fast and asked for her to stop the dance immediately. The scene was very funny, and Jeon So-min couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
Episode 438
Episode 438 was a competition between the Running Man members. The cast members were divided into two teams, the commander team led by Kim Jong-kook, and the ace team led by Song Ji-hyo. The episode was taken inside a coffee shop in the Gangnam area, Seoul, and was aired on February 10, 2019. The prize was a trip to Los Angeles, California, in the United States. The team leader who won the mission could pick one member to go along with him/her.
Inside the cafe, team leaders Song Ji-hyo and Kim Jong-kook promoted their trip and explained the itinerary course, activities, and benefits of joining his/her trip. Song Ji-hyo enticed cast members to join her team with the lure of telling the truth about her memorable night with an ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-kook promoted all the delicious Korean food that they would get to enjoy in Los Angeles. He said that Korean restaurants in Los Angeles have the most delicious soft tofu, even better than soft tofu in Korea. He teased the members with a trip to an LA Dodgers’ baseball game.
Spoiler alert! Song Ji-hyo’s team won the mission, and she could select one partner and travel to Los Angeles.
