Back at a fansign event on September 18, 2014, Suga had asked fans, “What do you want to eat?” When fans replied that they wanted meat, Suga promised to make a meat party for fans if he made a lot of money and became successful.

In a 2015 interview Suga was asked when his promise would come true and he wrote March 9, 2018, when he turns 25.

Later in 2018, Suga kept his promise after four years of waiting. It was revealed that Suga made meat donations to 39 orphanages in Daegu, his hometown. Suga had sent 10 kilograms (approximately 22 pounds) of prime Korean beef with confirmation documents, as well as signed BTS albums. The total cost of Suga’s donation is assumed to be around 20,000,000 KRW ($18,670 USD).

Some netizen commented, “I think he sent gogi to my parent’s workplace TT Yoongi promised to buy gogi on March 9, 2018. I’m in tears at his kind heart. But I can’t reveal the name of the children’s facility that my parents work at!

Big Hit then made an announcement, they said “For Suga’s birthday on March 9, he donated Korean beef to 39 orphanages under the name of BTS’s fan club ‘ARMY.’” The source from BigHit added, “Since Suga couldn’t have a party to eat meat together with his fans, he made the donation under the name of ARMY instead of his own to express his gratitude to his fans.”

The proof that Suga made the donation in the name of ARMY.

Again, in 2019, Suga made a donation under the ARMY name for his birthday celebration. He made the donation to return all the unwavering love he’s received from ARMY. He donated 100 million won (approximately $88,160) to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, a non-profit foundation that supports child cancer patients. He also donated  329 Shooky dolls, Fans speculated that number “329” was the day of  BTS’s very first fan meeting, which was held at the Olympic Hall in Seoul.

As a response to Suga’s donation, the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s chairman, Lee Sung Hee, stated, “We wish to thank BTS’s Suga and his fans for donating to children with cancer and leukemia. Things like this serve as a big source of comfort and hope for children and their families. We’re looking forward to what BTS will continue to do in the future.

Happy Birthday to Suga! We are touched by the way you showed your love to ARMY and give positive impact to the world!
