That’s right. They don’t have any Korean members, and neither of them were originally living in South Korea, but they are a K-pop duo. The members of this dui are Jenny Lyrics and Jenna Rose, who are both from America. They not only have similar names, they also had the same musical taste, which is R&B K-Pop. Both Jenny and Jenna used to be active on YouTube, covering K-Pop songs, and their names became widely known on the internet.
Jenny discovered Jenna, then had an idea to form a K-Pop duo together with her. Their viewers sometimes mistakenly think they are the same person because they are both black and their names are similar. CoCo Avenue wasn’t always a duo. Jenny and Jenna said that the group originally had six members, but they all lived in different states, which made it hard to record music or shoot music videos. CoCo Avenue Songs
The duo that started their journey from Los Angeles finally released their own songs after all of the hard work of making original music and filming the music video. CoCo Avenue released their first song on April 14, 2017, a single called “Eottae (어때),” that they released on Jenny Lyric’s YouTube channel.
The lyrics were written in Korean with some English lyrics, just like many other K-pop songs that we know of. Let’s just take a moment to focus on how good Jenny and Jenna’s pronunciation is in the song. They sing beautifully, with a R&b vibe that goes really well. The music video is also very pleasing to the eye.
Most netizens gave positive reactions to the duo’s debut songs. Even though neither woman is Korean and the song was not composed or released in Korea, Jenny and Jenna really slayed it. So it doesn’t matter what nationality or race you are, if you’re talented then you have a chance, just like Jenny and Jenna, who snatched a lot of wigs out there.

This is the time where Jenny and Jenna covered the 4Minute song, “Crazy” in 2015. On the music video, you can see that the duo doesn’t just have good voices, but also good dancing skills. They danced to the songs with backup dancers behind them. Just like the K-pop artists that we know, Jenny and Jenna were also rapping to the song with good pronunciation.
A year later,Jenny and Jenna covered another 4Minute song, called “Hate,” in May 2016. Once again, the duo showed their good Korean pronunciation with their soothing voices. Jenny and Jenna also danced to the song, and once again, they slayed it. The music video’s cinematography was even better than in the last one. Surely, CoCo Avenue were on the rise!

Don’t worry, the girls are not only covering girl group songs, because on the other video, CoCo Avenue released a cover of Jay Park’s song “You Know” on December 31, 2015. If you listen to their cover closely, the song really has the same vibe of their original song “Eottae (어때)”.

Or what about the time when CoCo Avenue performed at KCON in Miami, back in 2014? Jenny just released the video of them on October 8, 2019, and said that she was releasing it after four years. Even back in the old days, Jenny and Jenna slayed us with their amazing vocals and really nice Korean pronunciation.
This is the time that CoCo Avenue got recognition by winning the American K-Pop Festival Performance. Even though they were not expecting it, they won first place and got a chance to go to Korea. Woohoo!

CoCo Avenue Disbandment News
On July 1 2017, Jenny Lyric posted on her YouTube channel the really sad news that CoCo Avenue would no longer be working together. Jenny said that they were both taking different paths, and she would not uploading their work like she used to. Just like how the announcement be made by Jenny herself.
But even so, Jenny and Jenna were still supporting each other with their own projects. No one can take away Jenny or Jenna’s love for music, and so the two of them are still making music. You guys can still check it out on their YouTube channel.
Then again, even though they’re taking a different path, their love for music and K-Pop are still the same even though they’re not performing as CoCo Avenue anymore.
