BLOCK B’s Future
On November 23, Zico’s contract with Seven Seasons came to an end. Zico left his agency and Block B. He has a plan to establish his own agency and return as a solo artist. Seven Seasons statements about Zico:
“Hello, this is Seven Seasons.
We and Zico have ultimately agreed to the end of his exclusive contract of the past five years. The other six Block B members aside from Zico have decided to renew their contracts with us, with all signing completed.
As the time for the members to enlist is approaching, individual and unit activities will take precedence since their enlistment periods differ.
As for Block B’s future activities, we are currently discussing it from many angles with all seven members.
We express our gratitude towards Zico who gave it his all not only as Block B’s leader, but also as a producer, and we wish him the best of luck on his new start. We will continue to cheer him on from here on out. “
Block B members were busy with their respective activities and Zico debuted as a solo artist, with his song receiving a lot of fans’ attention. At the end of 2017, Seven Seasons announced that Block B would return on January 8th with a repackage album. titled Re:MONTAGE.
On November 23, 2018, Seven Seasons announced that Zico had not renewed his contract with the company. P.O, Park Kyung, Taeil, U-Kwon, BBomb and Jaehyo have re-signed to pursue individual and sub-unit projects. The label said that future full-group activities would be negotiated with all seven members. On December 20, 2018, Jaehyo became the first group member to enter into the conscription required of South Korean men. Due to an injured knee, he is expected to serve approximately two years as a public-service worker. On June 10, 2019, Taeil began his compulsory military duty.
