Chaeyeon is one of the members of the global idol group IZ*ONE. She debuted in 2018 after more than five years of training and competing in idol competition programs. Credit must be given to Chaeyeon for her perseverance and determination to pursue her dream of becoming an idol.
Chaeyeon started joining auditions and idol recruitment programs at the age of 13 years old. She failed two times during the elimination programs. IZ*ONE Chaeyeon Predebut Story
Chaeyeon and her sister Chaeryeong made an appearance as contestants on the talent competition show, K-pop Star 3 in November 2013. They made a duo group called True Chae, but failed to make it through the competition. After being eliminated from the show, the Chae sisters joined JYP Entertainments as trainees.
Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong joined another reality competition show. This time the competition series was called SIXTEEN. They joined the program as contestants on May 5th, 2015. The competition finally produced globally famous idol girl group TWICE. However, Chaeyeon failed in third episode and was eliminated from the program. She got the last position from the sixteen contestants. Her younger sister, Chaeryeong, got tenth position. She left JYP Entertainment and moved to WM Entertainment.
On SIXTEEN, Chaeyeon surprised and amazed the audience with her hip-hop dance moves. Sadly, she became the first trainee to be eliminated from the show. It was revealed that her visual wasn’t good enough for debuting as idol. From behind the scene footage, her visual wasn’t photogenic, and that she needed to be cut from group photos because of her looks. Fans criticized the SIXTEEN producer for choosing visuals before talent when she debuted as the winner of Produce 48.
