A Girl at My Door is a South Korean drama film directed by July Jung staring Bae Doo-na as a policewoman who takes in an abused girl played by Kim Sae-ron. This movie was released on May 22nd, 2014. The movie screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis

Young Nam (Bae Doo-na) was a promising graduate of the police academy before she was transferred to the small seaside village, which was caused by her misconduct. On her first day in the village, she encounters Do Hee (Kim Sae-ron), who is the girl living in the town, seeming to have a somewhat gloomy looking face. As Young Nam tries to adapt to her new surroundings, the accident of Do Hee’s grandma getting killed by falling from the seashore cliff happens. To protect the girl from her stepfather’s abuse, Young Nam lets Do Hee stay at her place but things turn out to be more mysterious as she gets to know her.

Snowy Road is South Korean historical drama film directed by Lee Na-jeong which narrates the story of two teenage girls’ tragic fate during the Japanese occupation of Korea. This movie had its world premiere at the 2015 Jeonju International Film Festival. This movie was theatrically released on March 1st, 2017, also known as the Independence Movement Day in South Korea, which commemorates the 1919 March 1st Movement.

Synopsis

Jong-boon (Kim Hyang-gi) and Young-ae (Kim Sae-ron) live in the same Korean village, but they come from totally different backgrounds. Jong-boon’s family is poor, but she is a bright and brave girl. Young-ae’s family is wealthy and she is smart.

One night, Jong-boon is kidnapped and thrown onto a train. She sees Young-ae on the same train. Young-ae volunteered to join a student workgroup, but she was deceived. She believed if she joined the student workgroup, she would go to Japan to study. Jong-boon and Young-ae are now on the same train, but they don’t know where they are headed. Soon, they face the horrific reality of “comfort women.”
