BTS & Nicki Minaj

Another phenomenal collaboration between K-Pop idols and western artists, BTS and Nicki Minaj! Since BTS has been one of the phenomenal boy-groups all around the world, this collaboration is pretty phenomenal as well! They released a hit single called IDOL, along with the music video, on August 24th, 2018. The song has two different versions, the one with Nicki Minaj on it, and another one just with BTS.
How did they got the collaboration? RM revealed that BTS thought that the song would be incredibly great if there was Nicki Minaj’s rap on it, and eventually they asked Nicki Minaj’s management. Lucky them, the management approved it! After the song released, Nicki Minaj also supportively promoted their song through her social media.
Since the first release, IDOL successfully entered a lot of music charts, such as Finland’s Digital Song Sales (Billboard) and Sweden’s Digital Songs (Billboard), where they got the 1st rank, and other charts such as the KPop Hot 100, Gaon, US Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Japan, and many more!

DEAN & Eric Bellinger

Next, there’s a great collaboration between Dean and Eric Bellinger! They released a single collaboration together, with the title I’m Not Sorry, featuring Eric Bellinger. This was also Dean’s debut in U.S. along with U.S. artists. The single was released in July, 2015.
The single was consisted of R&B/Hip-Hop vibes with a mixture of DJ influences. Eric Bellinger was impressed with Dean’s musical field, it also led them into doing a collaboration together, recording the single and filming the music video of I’m Not Sorry in Los Angeles. The song got a lot of attention from the first release, and ranked on the Gaon Chart, Billboard Hot 100, Heatseekers, and many more!

Black Eyed Peas & CL

Next, there’s CL and the Black Eyed Peas who went into a collaboration! Recently, the Black Eyed Peas had a collaboration single with CL, and also produced a music video. The single was titled with Dopeness, from the Black Eyed Peas’ latest album, Masters of the Sun Vol. 1, and was released on October 26th, 2018!
Previously, CL already had a collaboration with will.i.am from the American group, with their single, Gettin’ Dumb, in 2013, and have performed with the Black Eyed Peas at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2011 and Summer Sonic Festival in 2017. This time, she came up again with Dopeness along with Black Eyed Peas!
The single has entered the music charts in South Korea or overseas, such as iTunes charts, where they got great achievement, and also through Days on the German songs chart.

G-Dragon & CL with Skrillex & Diplo

This time, CL did another collaboration along with Skrillex, Diplo, and G-Dragon! They released an EDM/K-Pop single along with an accompanying music video, Dirty Vibe! The single was released on December 15th, 2014, and was part of Skrillex’s debut studio album, Recess.
The collaboration pleasantly surprised people, because of the different vibes between K-Pop music and EDM, but it turned into such an amazing collaboration! Since both CL and G-Dragon have been involved in collaboration with other western artists, no wonder that this time they came up along with Skrillex and Diplo! The hit single entered ing the 15th rank on the US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (Billboard), as well.

BTS & Steve Aoki

Another collaboration from BTS and a western artist, this time with Steve Aoki! They have been into collaboration twice, through their hit single Mic Drop and Waste It On Me. Mic Drop was released on September 18th, 2017, wtih two versions, and the collaborating song was the one which was remixed by Steve Aoki.
Mic Drop entered the music charts overseas, such as the Gaon, RNMZ, US Billboard Hot 100, Single Top 40, and many more! Mic Drop also hit #1 on the US World Digital Chart (Billboard), New Zealand Heartseekers (RNMZ), Finland Digital Song Sales (Billboard), and many more!
Meanwhile, their latest collaboration with Steve Aoki was through the single Waste It On Me, which was released on October 25th, 2018. The song was included in Steve Aoki’s album, Neon Future III. In an interview with Zach Sang, Steve Aoki revealed that when he was making the song, he thought it would be good for BTS, so he sent it to them and they approved it! RM was even involved in writing some of the lyrics.
Waste It On Me hit #1 in Malaysia (RIM), Sweden Heatseeker (Sverigetopplistan), and entered other music charts such as UK Billboard Hot 100, US Mainstream Top 40 (Billboard), Single Top 40, and many more!

BLACKPINK & Dua Lipa

Another phenomenal collaboration came from BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa! They released a beautiful song called Kiss & Make Up on October 19th, 2018. The song was part of Dua Lipa’s debut studio album, Dua Lipa: Complete Edition, in the super deluxe edition.
Ideas about collaborating came up after Dua Lipa met with Jennie and Lisa in her concert in Seoul. Actually, Dua Lipa had written the song in 2017, but she had no clue who she wanted to collaborate with until she met with them and thought that it would be crazy and fun if they could do a song together. Then she asked them to do the collaboration and BLACKPINK was welcoming and full of excitement before they went to recording.
Kiss & Make Up also entered lots of music charts, and hit #1 in Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, and many more! Other music charts also welcomed Kiss & Make Up with full of excitement, such as the US Billboard Hot 100, UK Singles, UK Download, Single Top 100, Top Hit, and many more.
Even though they didn’t release a music video, they got to perform the song live through BLACKPINK’s World Tour. Watch their performance together here:
