Synopsis of Encounter
Encounter is one of the latest South Korean dramas, that was just released in December, 2018, and was still being broadcast while this article was being written. From the first episode, Encounter was already receiving high ratings, the first episode hit a 10% rating, and that only increased for the following episode, which is an achievement! The drama was about the CEO of the Donghwa Hotel, who’s the daughter of a politician named Cha Soo-hyun (played by Song Hye-kyo), and one of her employees in the company, named Kim Jin-hyuk (played by Park Bo-gum).
They met for the first time in Cuba. Cha Soo-hyun was there to manage her new branch of the Donghwa Hotel in Cuba, meanwhile, Kim Jin-hyuk had come to Cuba to travel and take pictures. They met when Cha Soo-hyun’s car accidentally hit Kim Jin-hyuk. He wasn’t hurt in the accident, but his camera was broken. Cha Soo-hyun’s secretary, Jang Min-ji (played by Kwak Sun-young), apologized to Kim Jin-hyuk and wanted to replace his camera with a new one, but Kim Jin-hyuk rejected the offer, because that camera was too important to be replaced.
Cha Soo-hyun met Kim Jin-hyuk again when she was walking around by herself, and nearly fell, but Kim Jin-hyuk helped her. Kim Jin-hyuk also helped Cha Soo-hyun because she couldn’t return to her hotel since her bag and her money were stolen, and they ended up spending the day together in Cuba.
Once they each made their way back to Seoul, Kim Jin-hyuk received a call telling him he’d been selected to be an employee in Donghwa Hotel, and Kim Jin-hyuk realized that Cha Soo-hyun, the woman he met in Cuba, was the CEO of that hotel.
