If you have been a K-Pop fan for quite some time, you must have heard of the stories about how idols audition over and over again just to have a shot in making it big. In South Korea, there are a lot of auditions and singing competition programs, one of which is Mnet’s Superstar K. Many of the contestants who have appeared on the show have actually debuted and have managed to become rather popular.
Hyerin revealed that she had participated in Superstar K3, though she was rejected during super-week (the third round of the show). In her audition video, she could be seen as a naïve and young student. She also got some helpful criticism from Yoon Mi-rae.

It is said that Hyerin has a tattoo saying “mind over matter” after fans spotted it underneath her right arm. Upon closer look, it is revealed to read ‘heart/matter’ or ‘heart over matter,’ an altered proverb from ‘mind over matter.’

- In November 2018, EXID released a brand new album that finally includes member Solji after a long hiatus. It’s been two years since Solji took a break from EXID promotions due to health issues, and she has finally come back to the group. On November 30th, it was announced that EXID had earned their first top-five entry on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. Their new single “I Love You” entered the chart at #5, making it the highest performance of any singles released by EXID on the chart thus far. Meanwhile, “I Love You” has also shown success on the global iTunes charts, where it was able to reach #1 in nine different countries.
- EXID guested as a full team on JTBC’s Knowing Brothers on November 8th, 2018. Previously, only EXID’s Hani had made a guest appearance on the show.
- On November 28th, 2018, EXID made a full group appearance on MBC Every1’s Weekly Idol for the first time in two years. During the show, the members went through a lie detector test. To the statement, “I am satisfied with my agency,” Hyerin replied, “No.” Her answer revealed to be true, so she explained, “I was always dissatisfied at how we weren’t able to show varying sides of us throughout the 7 years.”
