Produce 101 Season 2: Woojin, Daehwi, Donghyun, and Youngmin
Young Min, Dong Hyun, Woo Jin, and Dae Hwi were participants on Produce 101 Season 2, a Mnet survival show for forming boy bands. Woo Jin and Dae Hwi finished in 6th and 3rd rank, and they became part of the project for debuting the boy band Wanna One. On the other hand, Young Min and Dong Hyun were eliminated and finished in 15th and 28th rank, respectively.
Woojin and Daehwin in Wanna One
Woo Jin and Dae Hwi were ranked 6th and 3rd, therefore, they were debuting in the contract project group Wanna One and became a famous group at the time. Later on, surprisingly, Woojin and Daehwi announced their collaboration single “Candle.” This song that is of the R&B and hip-hop genre was released on January 29th. The song tells the story of waiting for the one you love during cold days and lighting up the candle to make you feel warm. Daehwi participated in the writing of the lyrics, while Woojin composed the rap. They both said that this song was written while thinking of their fans.
Youngmin and Dongyun in MXM
Donghyun and Youngmin were also participants of Produce 101 season 2. But they were eliminated in episode 10. Later, they were debuted as members of the subunit group called MXM. Im Young-min and Kim Dong-hyun meet in Brand New Music and become trainees. They became agency representatives along with Lee Dae-hwi and Park Woo-jin in Produce 101 Season 2. Both of them were not chosen to take part in the Wanna One project group since Youngmin placed in the 15th rank and Donghyun got eliminated right before the last episode.
They debuted as MXM, duo group under Brand New Music on September 6th, 2017. Before this, Young Min and Dong Hyun were members of Starship Entertainment and Brand New Music collaboration project group called YDPP.
MXM stands for “Mix and Match” that denotes their significant quality and “More x More” which stands for their determination to become the best duo. On July 27th, they released their first single titled “Good Day” and Dong-Hyun also wrote their second single titled “I Just Do” along with Young-min and produced by Brand New Music, Kiggen.
Woong as YG Trainee in Stray Kids
Before Woong joined Brand New Music, he used to be a trainee in four different agencies, namely AB Entertainment, Woolim Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment. He became a trainee in JYP Entertainment in 2015 along with other Stray Kids members. Thus, he became friends with them, especially Jisung and Chan.
Before debuting in 2018, Stray Kids members were doing survival reality show also named after the group, Stray Kids. Woong also appeared on that show as an agency representative of YG Entertainment and competed with them to show his talent and ability. On that survival reality show, Woong demonstrated his talent in singing, dancing, rapping, also playing piano.
