AB6IX’s Official Debut
AB6IX officially debuted with the release of an EP album, B:COMPLETE, on May 22nd, 2019. In April 2019, they announced the welcoming of the new talent, Jeon Woong, to the group, making them complete as five members and revealing their group name, AB6IX, under Brand New Music, a South Korea-based label. AB6IX stated during their email interview on Billboard Radio China that, “This new album will consist of seven tracks, all co-produced and co-written by each of the members, with a title single called “BREATHE,” a trendy tropical deep house track.”
The group also released an official promotional video called “HOLLYWOOD,” which showed four of the members’ self-produced audition tracks for Produce 101 back in 2017.
AB6IX also showed their dynamic music style from fierce trap/dubstep (“Absolute”), acoustic-guitar-based dance ballad (“Shining Stars,” “Dance for Two”), and trendy funk (“Light Me Up”).
Brand New Boys
AB6IX is the name standing short for “ABSOLUTE SIX,” meaning that the complete line-up Brand New Boys will accomplish absolute perfection when the five members and the fandom are together. Their name is also an abbreviation of “ABOVE BRANDNEW SIX” which resonates the desire of the five members and their fans to open up a new perspective for Brand New Music.
AB6IX members have said “Breathe” was chosen for their title track on purpose. They decided to choose this song because the song reflects their thoughts about somebody that hopes to be free from life’s pressure in a social environment. That’s all about the most anticipated group of 2019, AB6IX.
