D.COY is the new global idol band from Rolling Culture One management. The five-member band is determined to set to make a new trend among bands in the K-Pop industry. Each of the members represents a gemstone or a color: Jungmin represents ruby; Sungwoo represents onyx, Hyukjin represents amethyst, Wonshin represents sapphire, and Dosun represents moonstone.
D.COY’s music is based on rock and alternative. Their music is also influenced by Korean pop music and British rock bands. Judging from their music, D.COY got inspiration from Oasis, U2, Radiohead, and other global rock alternative bands. Through their music, D.COY hoped to get the attention of global fans through the popularity of K-Pop idols and the Korean wave.
Since their debut, there was a huge interest in D.COY‘s music and the members’ profiles. Thought their music is considered unusual in the Korean music industry, D.COY managed to promote their music through various music programs and radios. When idol waves engulf global fans, D.COY with its rock-based music tried to shed new light in the Korean wave.
Before debuting, D.COY participated in a Naver music competition and received huge attention. They won the first and second views with their own singles, “Come to Right” and “December.” Due to their performance, D.COY was invited to perform at the KG 5G Street Festival and the Sichuan Rock festival.
D.COY managed to get 4th rank on MBC idol radio and got more than 164000 views. On May 2nd, 2020, D.COY held an online concert Open The Rollinghall to promote their music and interact with fans. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the concert was held online. Through the concert, D.COY described the content of their music and explained their musicality to fans.
Color Magic, their first album, is produced by Lee Sungju. Lee Seungju collaborated with other musicians in the making of the hit single “Beautiful Life” from the OST of Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.
