On September 13, 2019, Venus, who had just debuted, attended an interview session with Hankyung Entertainment and shared their various experiences as Miss Trot contestants and their impression when they ended up being the trot group, Venus. Q : How did the three come together?
Park Seung-yeon : We met in Miss Trot and became a relationship, and we got together as ‘visual members’. (Laughter)
Doori: If it weren’t for ‘Miss Trot’, we wouldn’t have met like this. You are so much fun. I went to ‘Miss Trot’ while trying to start a solo activity at the idol group GBB, and I am new to working as a team again.
Jung Da-kyung: Usually trot singers go around the 8th degree all over the country, so it is difficult to make a relationship because they often fall out after their performance. It is even rarer to form a unit like this. It is never easy. We are not common trot idols. Please call us ‘Trotdoll’.
Q : It seems that I have rarely seen a unit formed by trot singers.
Park Seung-yeon: Right. Sisters have formed duets or groups like Wink seniors, but this is very rare. Previously, there was Orange Caramel as a similar group, but they showed semi-trot music by uniting the girl group After School members, and we are a unit formed by trot singers. There is a difference.
Jung Da-kyung: There were people who missed music and groups of concepts like Orange Caramel. They liked it and saying, ‘The look I wanted to see’ while looking at us.
Doori: Before checking our faces, some people misunderstood it as Orange Caramel. Haha.
Q : What kind of song is the debut song, Turn Signal?
Park Seung-yeon: This is an exciting dance song in the semi-trot genre produced by the famous producer team TENTEN. It is a song that expresses each member’s individuality to their heart’s content. The melody and choreography are addictive.
Doori: The lyrics are cute, and the dance is cute. I hope you will fall in love with Venus’ cuteness.
Q : Interest is high because it is a unit from ‘Miss Trot’. How long is the event?
Doori: I was hesitant because of the typhoon, but I am busy because of the event season. Usually, they stand on the stage of events 2-3 times a day and 10 times a week. It goes around 8 degrees nationwide.
Q : What is the good thing about the three together?
Jung Da-kyung: I’m usually a little crazy. It’s a bit embarrassing to increase the tension when you’re alone, but it’s good to be crazy together.
Doori: I would be the highest tension among the three. It is lowering a lot now. haha.
Park Seung-yeon: There are many times when traveling alone is an enemy. I am not lonely because I am together. There are many times when all three are crazy and have fun.
Q : What is each team in charge of?
Park Seung-yeon: I’m in charge of the visual.
Jung Da-kyung: The visual is mine.
Duri: I’m the princess
Jung: Visual, take all the princesses. I will have the main vocal. (laugh)
Q : It’s an unusual combination, and the concept is brilliant. Which team would you like to collaborate with?
Park Seung-yeon: The first people that come to mind are Norazo seniors. Don’t you think the synergy will be huge?
Doori: Recently, I appeared in the Chuseok special of Wink’s seniors and MBC Every1 ‘Video Star’. They are so nice. The code fits so well. Wink x Venus, isn’t it cool? I think fans will like it.
Q : ‘Miss Trot’ From start to finish, after the end, you may have been insane. How about looking back at the last time?
Doori: It’s been less than a month since I finished the ‘Miss Trot’ concert. As soon as the broadcast was over, it was like an extension of the broadcast because the concert was held. I can’t realize it’s over.
Jung Da-kyung : Even now, they are rerunning on the cable channel. Whenever I contacted people around me, he said he was watching’Miss Trot’. It is said that the grandmothers memorize all the scripts of Kim Seong-ju who become the MC. There are times when I feel like I am still appearing.
Q : What have you gained and lost through ‘Miss Trot’?
Doori: I got a character called Princess. Wherever you go, they call you ‘Princess Doori’. I am so thankful that I have a definite concept. I got too much. When I was in GBB, it was 42 kg. I was active in a skinny state. I gained 5kg because I was happy while doing ‘Miss Trot’. You have to manage it. No more. haha.
Park Seung-yeon: Gained recognition. I am so grateful that many people recognize it. There is also a regret that I have lost some of the lives of the general public as awareness has been developed.
Jung Da-kyung: I got a second life. Before I went to ‘Miss Trot’, I was just an ordinary graduate student. I got a new life, but I lost my family. My uncle became my fan. He became a virtue.
Q : After ‘Miss Trot’, You have been running a schedule without a break. How do you manage physical fitness and body?
Park Seung-yeon: It’s one meal a day, but I eat a lot when I’m doing this. If I don’t eat, I can’t sing.
Doo-ri: I’m still fine. I’m busy, so I can’t manage my body. I starve when I think I need management. I go to the bathroom often. When you starve, the fat goes into it like a lie.

On May 2020, Doori visited the Star News office prior to the release of the new album ‘Pretty Advisory’ and held an interview. She said, “I feel like I want to show off to the fans who have been waiting for a long time, I’m finally here , please love me a lot.” The album released just a year after the end of the show ‘Miss Trot’ but also a little later than the other participants. “I released the album in one year, but I had confidence in myself to prepare it and my trust in my fans,” Doori said.
The title song Pretty Advisory fits perfectly with the image of Doori, from the cheerful EDM dance trot title to the lyrics ‘Don’t be surprised that my face is pretty’. “It’s a song that expresses the loneliness of a pretty girl, which is difficult for everyone to come to. Princess Doori, doesn’t it fit perfectly with me?” Doori explained. In June 2020, Park Seung-yeon who is also a member of Venus held a photo shoot and interview session with Noblesse Magazine and told about her career as a Trot singer. She got a lot of attention from her appearance in ‘Miss Trot’. “First, my daily life became busy. They travel across the country with an average of 4 to 5 daily schedules. Now, there are also fans who know how to do it. And I met good people,” Park Seung-yeon said. She also became a member of Trot group, Venus, with Jung Da-kyung and Doori who appeared on the survival show together and still active.
“It is more powerful and not lonely than when I stand on the stage alone.Many things have changed, but the most grateful of them is that my parents like it. Because it’s music you can relate to. That is the power of trot,” Park Seung-yeon explained. “The trot contains all emotions and sorrows. And it can be enjoyed by all generations. Instead of being tacky, I want to show a stylish and exciting trot. My goal is to allow more people to hum the trot.” Park Seong-yeon is facing a new challenge.
First, it has been a while to select a song for a new album to be released in the second half of this year. The album will be filled with a trot that is more familiar than before.
