Rock Hamlet as Hamlet
This musical performances was in 2000 at Jangchung Gymnasium. At the time, the musical didn’t run for very long, and it was hard to figure out the possibility of being a musical actor someday, because of the concert type musical ‘Rock Hamlet’. Park Hyo-shin played as Hamlet, a rookie singer.
Elisabeth as Tod (Death)
Elisabeth is a story about an empress known as Empress Elisabeth, who falls in love and starts a relationship with Tod (Death). There is only one thing that keeps her emotionally stimulated—the dark and sensual shadow of Death, but Elisabeth is reluctant to consummate their relationship. When Death takes her infant daughter, the tragedy shakes the young Empress extremely, and she refuses to give in to Death’s sway.
This musical showed in 2013 at the Seoul Arts Center. This is also the first musical Park Hyo-shin performed in for ten years he was make his debut as musical actor in 2000.
Mozart
Park Hyo-shin transformed into Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for the musical “Mozart!” which started on June 14, 2014, at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. This musical was special because he played the lead character. Park Hyo-shin said about his character, “It was hard to decide to join the team, as ‘Mozart!’ is one of the most anticipated stages, and I would have to lead the entire stage all by myself. But I still wanted to challenge myself and defeat my own fear.”
Phantom
‘Phantom’ is a work by playwright Arthur Kopit and composer Maruy Yeston, based on Gaston Leroux’s novel ‘The Phantom of the Opera (1910). In ‘Phantom’, Park Hyo-shin returns as Eric. The musical is a bloody melodrama about a frightening caped and masked ˜phantom’ living in the depths of the Paris Opera. The Phantom (Eric) lives for beautiful music and is mesmerized by a young and beautiful soprano, Christine. He offers to train the girl and make her into a great singer.
The Man Who Laughs
This musical, based on the novel of the same title by Victor Hugo, is based on a secret of birth hidden by Gwynplaine and the love of 17th century Britain, where discrimination was frequent. Park Hyo-shin once again returns, as the lead character, ‘Gwynplaine’, in this musical.

Park Hyo-shin’s Military Service
Park Hyo-shin entered military service as an active-duty soldier on December 21, 2010, fulfilling his mandatory two-year military service. During his period of service, he accepted two military awards. On an episode of “Night of TV Entertainment,” the singer revealed that he became the first soldier in the last six years to be given the Army Chief of Staff’s award and the Minister of National Defense Award.
After two years, Park Hyo-shin was discharged from his service on September 24, 2012. Some 200 fans gathered for his discharge, with some of them bearing placards, handmade flower necklaces, and cake. Rookie group VIXX, his juniors at Jellyfish Entertainment, was also present to greet him. He embraced his juniors, who came to see their senior after his service.
Within two months of his return, he announced an upcoming concert. The concert, titled “War Is Over”, was held on November 28 and 29 at the Olympic Park, Gymnastics Stadium.
Park Hyo-shin’s Dating Rumor
On November 2, 2015, rumors about Park Hyo-shin dating actress Jung Ryeo-won has been spread. One media outlet borrowed the words of a rep from a wedding enterprise, who said, ” Park Hyo-shin and Jung Ryeo-won are carefully preparing for their marriage. With utmost secrecy, they are in contact with a wedding planner to choose the restaurant and the wedding dress.”
Jung Ryeo-won’s agency, KEYEAST, made an official statement about their actress’s rumor. They said,“Jung and Park’s dating and marriage rumors are groundless. In fact, they have never met privately and Jung is just a fan of Park.”
On November 2, Jung Ryeo-won personally took to her Instagram to address the situation, “I was completely surprised during filming. A wedding rumor I did not even know about. I am a fan of Park Hyo Shin. It’s to the point I go to his concert to directly listen to his song. However, I don’t even know his phone number. I never even met him. Once a report comes out, no matter how much it is denied, the words that continue to follow it fluster me, and I feel sorry toward Park Hyo Shin. I hope everyone would know it is not true. I thank and am sorry to the people who worried for me when they heard the news with me on the set of filming. I will put in all my heart to diligently film.”
