Sechs Kies Disbandment

aminoapps.com

Sechs Kies disbandment on May 20, 2000, was such a tragedy at the time. They disband without any explanation to the fans, resulting in various rumors spread which pursed on DSP Media high involvement. This made an unforgettable incident where at Sechs Kies last performance, reporter Jo Young-goo’s car was mistaken by fans as Lee Ho-yeon’s, the CEO of DSP, and the angry fans destroyed the car completely. Given the young age of fans, the reporter did not file a complaint against them, but Lee Ho-yeon paid him 11 million won as compensation.

After the disbandment, each member talked about it several times in various tv show. Most of them said that it would be best if they disband at the peak of their career, but Jaejin said that they actually wanted to change their agency but ended in disbandment.

Sechs Kies Reunion and Signing with YG Entertainment

Through the variety show Infinity Challenge, Sechs Kies held the reunion concert after 16 years of their disbandment at Sangnam World Cup Stadium on April 30, 2016. Around 6,000 Yellow Kies attend that concert because they miss the legend so much. Besides that, Ko Ji-yong attendance made this concert more emotional since his hiatus from the entertainment industry to focus on business.

On May 11, 2016, YG Entertainment announced that Sechs Kies had signed contracts with the company without Ko Ji-young. Jaejin and Sunghoon also signed the individual contracts with YG Entertainment. After their signing with YG, in 2017 they launched album titled Another Light by involving YG teams like Epik High Tablo, WINNER Mino, and WINNER Seunghoon. Their songs back to peak the music charts.
