Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, made a solo debut with the album’s title track “I,” featuring popular rapper, Verbal Jint, and including lyrics written by Taeyeon herself. The album was released via digital music websites at midnight on October 7th, the physical copies sold in the stores on the same day.

“I” is a song with autobiographical lyrics written by Taeyeon. The lyrics of “I” are said to be about the feelings she kept hidden about being in the spotlight and her hopes for the future. “I” is a medium tempo pop track that includes electronic guitar sounds and an aggressive drum beat.

“I” has swept music charts immediately upon its release. “I” ranked number one on seven real-time music charts, including MelOn, Genie, Bugs, Naver Music, Olleh Music, Mnet Music, and Soribad.

On the June 26th episode of Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, Verbal Jint appeared and talked honestly about himself. He confesses, “I’m very introverted. It’s the same way when I’m dating. So some people get frustrated with me.”

Verbal Jint also revealed that he isn’t the type to be very expressive, saying, “If a woman links her arms with me in public and I don’t push her away, that means that’s day one,” inciting laughter. He also said, “I don’t talk a lot normally. When I’m dating, [my girlfriend] would often say that she has no idea what I’m thinking.”

Show Me The Money (쇼미더머니) is a South Korean rap competition TV show that airs on Mnet. Verbal Jint was the contestant of SMTM Season 1 in 2012. Verbal Jint was performing to a hip-hop version of Miss A’s “Breathe”. Miss A′s Min also made a surprise appearance to lend a helping hand. Unfortunately, the result was dismal. He didn’t make it through the second round and was eliminated after receiving 650,000 won. Before leaving the show, he said, “Appearing once in a competition program is more than enough. I′ll watch on to see where Show Me the Money goes next. I think I′ll be able to learn a lot, too.” He later appeared on Season 4 as a producer.
