Heroine (2018)

Heroine is also a single by MakeUs Entertainment and The Black Label and distributed by LOEN Entertainment which was released on January 18, 2018. The song is written by Sunmi and Teddy Park, and produced by Teddy alongside 24.

The song debuted at number six on the Gaon Digital Chart, on the chart issue dating January 14-20, 2018, topping the componing Download Chart. In its second week, the song reaches a new peak at number two. The song also debuted at number 3 on the US World Digital Song Sales with 2,000 downloads sold.

Siren (2018)

On February 5, 2018 Sunmi revealed why she wanted to be an artist on variety show Talk Mon,She said, “i wasn’t going to share this story but to be honest, the reason I decided to become a celebrity is my dad. When I was in the 5th grade, I lived with my two younger brothers and sisters, but I was sick and kept getting worse, but I was transferred to the hospital because of his condition worsened. faced financial difficulties, I became the head of the house, I was immobile, so I was worried about what I should do, but to be a teacher, I had to study at least 10 more years and how should I be supposed to make money in that situation?”

She continued, “So I thought I needed to become a celebrity. At the time, young people believed that it was the fastest way to make money. And that was also when BoA sunbaenim was actively promoting so I thought I needed to become like her So, I got back and forth for auditions, then at age 14, I passed JYP auditions and became a trainee, but then there was no one who could take care of my dad, my young brothers took care of him. and I was a trainee in Seoul.”

Sunmi stated, “My dad was relieved on me a lot and sometimes whined at me. I’ve always been sending messages but training was hard. It was too much for my young self to bare. But then one day, I received a message from my dad that stated, ‘Dad is leaving first.’ I didn’t text back, thinking my dad is just whining again but he passed away the next day.”

She continued, “He passed away 3 months before my debut. My dad also dreamed of becoming a singer. I went back home to his funeral and my brothers were the head mourners. There was a letter my dad wrote to me and at the end , it stated, ‘Please be born as my daughter again in the next life.”
